My dear Miss Tate (Sue V.)
In the letter I received from my husband today, he told me about the sad and severe shock
and loss you and your family have sustained, and have been called upon to bear. Words seem so
cold and comfortless in such deep sorrow, and I will only quote a few lines from my husband's
letter. "I feel very sad and sorrowful for the family and I pray God that He will give them all,
especially the dear mother, strength to bear up under the fearful strain and sorrow." I hope you
will feel that this is my earnest prayer too. Assuring your dear mother, sisters and your dear
self of my sincere and heartfelt sympathy, I am yours sincerely, Ernestine H. Kistler*
