I've scanned this note to Claude Tate, from Hannie Brem dated 16 May 1902. I was surprised to quickly and easily find info on Hannie. She was
Hannah Eliza Caldwell, d/o TR & Menerva Caldwell of Morganton. Hannie married Walter Brem and lived in Charlotte, NC.(Laura & Jennie's
father was Robert Caldwell Pearson and I assume that's where Hannie's "cousin" status originates.) Kathy

Dear Claude,
I know you have all been almost heart broken with grief, and that words of sympathy seem so cold
and meaningless, but I feel that I must write and tell you that my thoughts and sympathies have been with
you all constantly. I wish that I could say something that might be of some comfort, but that alone can
come from my dear Heavenly Father and he is always ready and willing to comfort and help in time of need.
I do trust that your health has been better this past winter. Mina would have messages to send
you if she were here.
With much love and sympathy for Cousin Jennie and you all,
I am most sincerely your attached Cousin and friend, Hannie C. Brem
