My Dear Irene,
Your most welcome letter was received yesterday, and you can't imagine how glad I was to hear from you. It seems such a long
time be-tween letters. I always go to the Post Office every day, but it seems very foolish to go.
I am sorry Bess will not go up to see you all. Guess Sue and Aunt Claude will have a fine time at Goldsboro.
Our foot ball team played Davidson in Wilmington to day. Very few students went to the game. We had a continuous report.
Every one here were satisfied to tie Davidson this year. I was very much afraid we were (pg2) going to be defeated. The score
was nothing to nothing. Davidson made two touch downs, but they were not legal. I do hope we will win the game from Virginia.
Don went to the Raleigh Fair I have not see[n] him to hear about his trip. He o[f] course saw a little more than any one else.
I meet *Sid McAden's brother to day. I don't' know what his first name is. He wanted to know how all of you girls were. He
seems to be a very nice boy. **Cousin Julia Manning has another son / James in college.
Guess Addie will have a fine time at the wedding. So you say Mort and Walter are giving the Misses Erwins a rush. "Baby" is
going to school. I (pg3) guess cousin Will and the boys will send him off to school soon.
I wish you would ask Frank to send me a check to get a suit of clothes and shoes.
I will write again when I can learn some news. It has been just like spring over the past two days. The leaves are falling
and I think cold weather will soon be here. With lots of love for you all.
Affly., [Affectionately]
Gordon
