This project began in 1985 when I would conduct genealogical research for clients during the day and
use time towards the end of the day to read old newspapers on microfilm for Old Moore County, North
Carolina (now all of present Moore County and ¾ of Lee County).
This book is entitled, "Central North Carolina Vital Statistics" containing Central N.C. entries-
6 Marriages & 72 Deaths and "Old Moore County, N.C. Vital Statistics" (1784- 1890) Part II adding
440 items missed in Part I {including 7 NEW Bastardy Records: County Court Minutes (1) and J.P Records
(6), 11 NEW Marriage Bonds for Chatham, Cumberland, Orange & Robeson counties (1799-1868: Marriages
involving Old Moore County, NC residents), 1 NEW Marriage Contract: County Court Minutes (1829 Marriage),
the Methodist denomination newspaper, Christian Advocate printed in Raleigh, NC [I read from January
9, 1857 to December 31, 1890 for Old Moore County, N.C. discovering 81 NEW Marriages & 98 NEW Deaths];
the Baptist denomination newspaper, Biblical Recorder printed in Raleigh, NC [I read from December 14,

Harrison Lawhon (1897-1913) both covering Central NC. Items on Egypt, Chatham County, N.C. (now Cumnock,
Lee County, NC) coal mine accidents were merged into the deaths. Central NC Masonic Lodges- Annual
Returns (Death Entries) were included for Chatham, Harnett, Lee and Moore counties. Diaries of Colonel
Leonidas Campbell Jones (1864, 1874-1889) containing numerous Central NC (especially- Fayetteville &
Jonesboro/Sanford, NC areas) and NC entries (especially- Wilmington, NC area) that I did & did not
print in my The Bountiful Legacy Of A Mother: Buffalo PresbyterianChurch, Buffalo Community/Sanford,
N.C. (1797-1997).
I encourage anyone that finds Old Moore County, N.C. vital statistics (1784- October 1913) that I
